Referee Clinic

Northern Piedmont Sports Club hosts periodic Grassroots referee training clinics at the Athey Sports Complex! This is for all new soccer referee's or referees returning after a lapse of more than 3 years. These clinics are limited to only 12 registrants!! You must be age 13 or older on the day you register to become a referee.


To get started you will need to visit the Metro DC - Virginia State Referee Program Website [HERE] and get registered and follow all instructions on the site.

This Clinic is the Final of two steps to become a new soccer referee, or to return to refereeing after a lapse of more than 3 years.
This step requires you to attend, participate, and complete the field training session.
Completing the field training is the Final Step to become a new soccer referee.
- Field Training - 4 hour field session - Restarts, Offside, Referee Positioning and mechanic, Referee and AR practice, and more.

Equipment Needed: whistle, referee flag, and flipping coin to the field session (referee equipment cannot be shared).

Remember: Dress for the weather and for mild activity on the field.  You will be outside on the field for 4 hours.

Uniform

Uniform requirements: 

Typically, soccer referees wear a jersey, shorts, socks, and shoes and their gear includes a whistle, a wristwatch, red and yellow cards, and flags. The exact uniform can vary from league to league, with some requiring specific jerseys or jersey colors and some have stricter shoe.
